Question and Answers
All Stelrad products are designed and manufactured to the highest standards and are suitable for almost any location. We are asked many common questions about our products and we have answered as many as we can.
What size radiator do I need to heat up my room?
The size will depend on the heat required for the room. This can be established by discussion with your plumber/heating installer. Each radiator has it’s output listed in the technical specifications which can be accessed through product pages on the website.
Are Stelrad radiators suitable for my existing central heating system?
Yes. Our radiators work with all central heating systems. All our connections are BSP and will accept manual of thermostatic valves. The principal of installing Stelrad towel and decorative radiators is not different to that of an ordinary radiator.
Can I use Stelrad radiators with a combi boiler?
Yes. All Stelrad radiators, including towel rails and decorative radiators will operate with every type of central heating boiler whether combi, sealed system etc.
Can I change the radiator(s) in just one room or must I re-do the whole central heating system?
There is no problem in integrating Stelrad radiators, including towel rails and decorative radiators into an existing system.
I want to change an existing panel radiator for a tall vertical towel rail or designer radiator. Is this OK?
Yes. This is not a problem if you have a sealed system or combination boiler. However if you have a central heating expansion tank (usually in the loft), then the top of the radiator must be at least 2ft (600mm) below it.
Where is the best place to position a radiator?
Tests prove that it is best to place a radiator in the coldest part of the room. This is often near windows. However with the wide range of sizes and outputs available, you have the freedom to co-ordinate the best possible options to suit you.
