Creative Design Flexibility

Emphasis on energy efficiency, increasing insulation levels and strict building regulations all create additional difficulties for achieving accurate Heatloss and U Value calculations. To help with even greater accuracy, rooms can now be split. This provides a definite benefit in applications where an extension is involved, because the program allows the difference in construction between the internal ceiling and external ceiling to be taken into consideration.

Flexibility of design has been further improved through an imaginative feature that allows mixed radiator types to be selected within each room and in addition it is now possible to size for light commercial applications, such as shops and offices.

Improving on Technical Excellence

The STARS program is designed, for use with Windows 95 and above – which will suit the majority of home and office computers. There is a reduced number of screens to complete and a status bar for easy reference, makes the programme quick and easy to use.

All Stelrad radiator types are listed within the program, including the Stelrad Compact range and the new Designer range. Strictly controlled independent laboratory testing ensures that all Stelrad radiators are guaranteed to perform to a maximum working pressure of 116psi (8 bar) and conform to BS EN 442 – the European Standard for radiators.

Heatloss Calculator

For ease of sizing with greater accuracy, STARS provides the perfect solution. Stelrad STARS contains a wide range of room shapes, such as slopes, and also caters for awkward skylights. A visual check on room shape is achievable through an on screen floor plan that can also be printed onto hard copy.

The program allows accurate calculations to establish heatloss for a given room. Appropriate radiators and boilers, can then be selected from the listings contained within the program. Additional heating products, such as pumps and valves can also be selected giving a comprehensive, accurate equipment listing.

U Valve Calculator

The STARS program has an inbuilt U Valve Calculator, incorporating all CIBSE standard U values. Unknown U values can be calculated accurately as the program is able to cope with different heat paths and materials. Supplementary construction materials can also be added as and when required.

Material Schedule

Once the heatloss calculation and product selection process has been completed, a Material Schedule can be used to provide cost information. This complete heating specification can subsequently be printed to produce a professional, customised quotation form to pass to your customers.

Technical Information Data Storage

All Stelrad technical brochures are held electronically and are updated in a regular basis. This allows minimal storage space for literature and allows architects and consultants to conform to ISO 9002 requirements.
