Keeping students warm in Leeds…

Understandably, students attending college or university expect quality student accommodation during their period of learning. And the quality of accommodation has improved hugely over the past twenty years.

Leeds University offers a range of student accommodation, amongst which is the impressive Montague Burton accommodation, built on the original factory site for the famous tailor, close to the university in the centre of Leeds. Built originally in 1991, this campus style accommodation has recently undergone a refurbishment programme to bring it up to current day standards and this included the refurbishment of the heating systems and new radiators for the common areas of each floor – the shower room and toilet, and the common area where students can relax or study in comfort.

The refurbishment saw the use of Stelrad’s attractive tubular Caliente radiators in the toilets and shower rooms and its popular Concord Slimline radiators in the living areas. The Caliente’s are available in a wide range of sizes in single and double versions in a range of four different heights and four different widths – a total of thirty-two different options. Supplied in white as standard, they can be ordered in up to 36 different colours and come with a five-year warranty. The Concord Slimline vertical radiator is available in a choice of two heights – 1800 and 2000mm and four widths from 320mm to 640mm. Again, they are available in white as standard, but these attractive radiators can be selected in up to 36 colours. As with the Caliente, the Concord Slimline has a five-year warranty.

The radiators at Montague Burton Student Accommodation in Leeds were installed by heating sub-contractor Dale Stephenson. The main contractor on site is ENGIE and the Site Manager was Dave Bell: “We like working with Stelrad radiators. We get a decent quality product that is easy to install and we get great availability to get the radiators on site when we need them,” he says.

Chris Harvey is Head of Marketing at Stelrad: “It’s exciting to see our radiators being selected for student accommodation up and down the country – both new build and like this project at Montague Burton, in replacement projects. And it’s following the recent trend to see designer and decorative radiators being selected, rather than entry level steel panel radiators for these applications, highlighting the increasing appeal that our designer and decorative options have across the board – in residential and commercial properties.”
