Kitchen Radiators UK - FAQS
Where to Put a Radiator in the Kitchen?
Where to fit a kitchen radiator is an important decision to make. Kitchens are often the coldest of rooms due to the tiled or laminate floor. When deciding where to place your UK kitchen radiator, there are a few factors to consider.
Firstly, the position of your kitchen radiator will affect the efficiency of it. We would advise that when you install your kitchen radiator, the best place is the coldest part of the room. This is usually under a window, as cold air creates better heat conductivity.
Whether that means your kitchen wall radiator should be a tall kitchen radiator or a small kitchen radiator entirely depends on the dimensions and properties of your own kitchen.
If your home is double glazed, there may not be a particularly cold area in your kitchen – lucky you!
In this case, place your new kitchen radiator wherever you like. This opens the potential to buy a tall kitchen radiator. Modern UK kitchen radiators at Stelrad are made with a protective gloss finish that will not remove from the radiator if it is rubbed against.
See our radiator BTU heat calculator to see which modern kitchen radiator is best suited to you.
What Size Radiator Do I Need for My Kitchen?
What size kitchen radiator you need for your kitchen depends entirely on the size of your kitchen. For a larger room, a larger or tall kitchen radiator is generally needed to heat the room, unless you purchase multiple small kitchen radiators.
On average, we suggest one radiator for every 4 metres or so in your room. Use our radiator size search tool to help decide which of our UK made kitchen radiators is right for you.
Do I Need a Radiator in the Kitchen?
Do you need a radiator in the kitchen? We believe so. The kitchen does heat up a considerable amount when you are cooking, which can be a benefit in the colder winter months, but you won’t be cooking all day every day!
Even if your kitchen is smaller, we would recommend acquiring a small kitchen radiator, perhaps a multi-purpose radiator such as a kitchen towel rail, to keep you warm through to spring. The adage says, “If you can’t stand the heat, get out the kitchen.” We say… if your kitchen is too cold, you won’t want to be in there anyway!
