Vertical Radiators UK - FAQs
Are Vertical Radiators Good?
The long and short? Yes – vertical radiators are some of the best radiators on the UK market.
For example, the brackets on Stelrad’s Vita Series vertical radiators are extremely strong, clamped to both the top and bottom of the radiator, supplied with extra secure bolts and are load tested for weight, meaning that any of the tall radiators you buy from us will certainly not topple over any time soon. A precaution worth taking before attempting to install a vertical radiator is to ensure that your wall of choice is sturdy enough to hold the weight of any of our upright, vertical radiators. The weight of our vertical radiators is clearly indicated on the packaging you will receive, as well as in our brochure.
Tall radiators and upright radiators have many benefits compared to horizontal, wide fitting radiators and will act as a fashionable accompaniment to your room.
Are Vertical Radiators as Good as Horizontal?
It’s a normal concern that purchasing vertical radiators might result in a below standard output of heat. Contrary to popular belief, it has been proven that vertical radiators are just as effective as horizontal radiators.
Additionally, there are other benefits in choosing vertical radiators. Our tall slim radiators will allow you to utilise more space within your room, as they can be installed in spaces that their horizontal counterparts would not be able to fit into. Another positive of choosing vertical radiators is that it could help improve the overall price of your property. Modern designs are desirable when buying a house, and as vertical radiators in the UK aren’t especially common, this could work to your advantage down the line.
Are vertical radiators more efficient?
Vertical radiators are not necessarily more efficient than horizontal radiators, but they are just as good. A benefit of vertical radiators is that they produce the same BTU heat as a traditional horizontal radiator.
This means that you can enjoy all the benefits of a traditional radiator, whilst conserving space by buying a tall slim vertical radiator.
Can a Vertical Radiator be Hung Horizontally?
A vertical radiator can be hung horizontally, but there are a few factors to bear in mind. Due to the direction of the airflow, the heat output will not be the same as when hung vertically. Additionally, one of the main benefits of a vertical radiator, and our tall slim vertical radiators in particular, is the ability to conserve space. Once hung horizontally, this benefit is lost. It is completely up to you – but to get the most out of your vertical radiator, keep it vertical!
Can Vertical Radiators be Fitted Upside Down?
Wondering whether “vertical radiators can be fitted upside down” is a fair question to consider. It’s a nightmare-worthy scenario, putting the work in to install your new tall radiator only to find that you’ve spun the situation on its head.
Have no fear, our vertical radiators can be piped and fitted upside down and they do work whichever way you decide to fit them. All but our Concord Vertical Radiators and Column Vertical Radiators are capable of this. Due to the flow inverter within our vertical radiators, it is important to bear in mind that the flow will still be on the left-hand side, regardless of which way you spin it.
Do vertical radiators work? Yes, absolutely!
