Stelrad radiators gifted to City Skills Centre in Salford

Leading radiator manufacturer Stelrad Radiators has donated a number of Elite radiators to Salford City Skills Centre to help train the 80 plus students and apprentices learning their plumbing and heating skills at the college.

Colleges – like most organisations and businesses – are having a tough time with budgets and being able to provide the range and selection of products for their students to practice on, is proving ever more difficult and they rely heavily on the donation of equipment from manufacturers to ensure they have recent equipment for the students to use day to day.

“We are really grateful for any products we can get from manufacturers,” says Kirsty Clempson, a teacher in plumbing, gas and building services at the City Skills Centre in Salford. “We buy what we can, but our budgets are limited and everything is more expensive this year than last year – so we do need to persuade manufacturers out there to let us have spare or sometimes damaged or returned goods that they have that we can use. It’s so important that we can deliver enthusiastic and qualified young people to the plumbing and heating industry each year and its clearly important that we can train the students on the use of the products they will come across once they are out there finding their feet in the industry. This donation from Stelrad is really helpful and our students are always happy to see new components turning up for them to work with in their hands on training activities.”

“We were happy to help Kirsty and her team in Salford when we got the call,” says Stelrad’s Lexi Kelly, Marketing Coordinator. “We have a decent track record of being able to help out when we are asked to provide product to colleges up and down the country and we are pleased that we could help in this instance.”

City Skills Centre in Salford has just completed its new Low Carbon Skills Centre to begin training students on renewables, with the installation of air source heat pumps, with hot water cylinders and all the other products required to cover the necessary areas of work for installing a renewable heating system. Some of the Stelrad radiators have been incorporated in this area of the training centre as well as others being used in the bathroom and heating system training booths.
