COLOURED RADIATORS UK - FAQS
What Is The Best Colour For A Central Heating Radiator?
Choosing your coloured radiator is a big decision, and its functionality is a key factor. For a coloured radiator, the best colour you can choose is matte black. A black radiator or an anthracite radiator will do the job equally as well, while acting as a visual piece to be envied.
Do Anthracite Radiators Rust?
Anthracite radiators are just as efficient as any other radiator. The issue of rusting is not applicable with Stelrad anthracite radiators because the paint used on the outside of the radiator is not actually metal, but a matte coating. The inside of the radiator, however, will need the same attention as any other radiator or coloured radiator, so be sure to thoroughly flush it through prior to installation. See our guide on how to clean your Stelrad radiator here.
What Colour Is Anthracite Radiator?
An anthracite radiator is a dark grey radiator. Anthracite simply means “a coal of a hard variety that contains relatively pure carbon and burns with little flame and smoke of a dark grey colour.”
Quite fitting, we think, when its primary function is to keep you toasty.
Are Black Radiators Better Than White?
It’s not for us to say whether one is better than the other… but, black radiators emit more heat, due to their colour. The overall difference in output between a black radiator and a white radiator is only 1%, so the difference really is negligible. Use our heat loss calculator to find out which model is best for you.
Are Black Radiators More Efficient?
Darker radiators give out more heat than lighter coloured radiators. The most efficient option for you would be a black radiator, grey radiator, or anthracite radiator.
