Introducing The Green Series – Stelrad’s 90% Green Steel Radiator Range

Helping our customers make greener choices for their home heating, Stelrad are offering the first UK-manufactured low carbon-emissions steel radiator range.

The Green Series provides customers with 60 horizontal models to choose from, ranging in different sizes and types to help you choose the perfect option for your home. Every radiator is also 100% recyclable and uses zero plastic for the outer packaging.

The steel used in the Green Series is XCarb® recycled and renewably produced steel, supplied by Stelrad’s partners at ArcelorMittal. It is manufactured in an electric arc furnace using very high levels of recycled scrap steel and 100% renewable electricity, with the renewable energy assured via Guarantee of Origin certificates. The result is a CO₂ footprint of around 800kg of CO₂e per tonne of finished steel, a 66% reduction compared with the same product made through conventional steelmaking.

Each radiator in the range also comes with an Environmental Product Declaration (EPD), which transparently reports objective, comparable and third-party verified data about the product’s environmental performance across its full lifecycle, in line with ISO 14025 and EN 15804 standards.

Here are some of the key things to know about the Green Series:

• Lower-carbon steel – Manufactured using XCarb® recycled and renewably produced steel from ArcelorMittal.
• Renewable energy – Steel produced using 100% renewable electricity, not coal or gas.
• 66% CO₂ reduction – A lower carbon footprint per tonne versus conventional steelmaking.
• EPD verified – Independently verified Environmental Product Declaration to ISO 14025 and EN 15804.
• 100% recyclable – Every radiator is fully recyclable at the end of its life.
• Zero plastic – No plastic used in the outer packaging.
• UK manufactured – Radiators manufactured in the UK at our Mexborough factory.
• 60 Green Models – A full range of horizontal Green Series radiators to choose from.

By purchasing low-carbon steel such as XCarb®, Stelrad is investing directly in the decarbonisation of the steel supply chain, which accounts for the majority of our Scope 3 emissions, while contributing to immediate reductions today.

The Green Compact Range

The range, available to order from April 2025, provides multiple options for homeowners to add to our existing comprehensive range of radiators. Each carries the exclusive Green Series badge and provides efficient heating performance ideal for many different types of rooms.

You can choose K1, K2 and P+ models in the Green Compact range, helping you meet the demands of your home heating requirements across multiple dimensions. When using our BTU calculator, you’ll be able to see which Green Series model is the perfect option based on your room details.

A typical eight-radiator household fitted with Green Compacts saves the equivalent of taking a family car off the road for 1,200 miles, helping to reduce your carbon footprint and contribute to lower CO₂ emissions.

About XCarb® Recycled and Renewably Produced Steel

To achieve a lower-carbon steel radiator, ArcelorMittal produces XCarb® recycled and renewably produced steel using an electric arc furnace, high levels of recycled scrap steel and 100% renewable electricity. The CO₂ savings are independently assured and calculated in accordance with the Greenhouse Gas Protocol for Project Accounting, enabling Stelrad to report a corresponding reduction in Scope 3 emissions in line with the GHG Protocol Corporate Accounting and Reporting Standard.

XCarb® brings together ArcelorMittal’s reduced, low and zero-carbon products and steelmaking activities, alongside wider initiatives and green innovation projects, into a single effort focused on demonstrable progress towards net-zero steel.
