Top apprentices begin relationship with Stelrad at competition

Seven top plumbing apprentices from across the UK began a closer relationship with Stelrad Radiators when they took part in the finals of this year’s National Apprentice Plumber of the Year competition, which took place over two days early in May at the Adey Professional Heating Solutions Training School in Cheltenham.

The seven finalists who had all won regional competitions to get to the final, had to install two Stelrad radiators as part of the final competition test paper.

“We are really grateful to Stelrad for supplying their Compact radiators for the finals of this competition,” said Celia Matthews from SNG Publishing which has organised the competition since 2009. “Seven regional finalists have made it to the finals and as you would expect the standard of work undertaken by all the finalists is exceptional.”

“Students get a lot out of the competition,” continued Celia Matthews. “They make new friends, gain more confidence in their abilities and enjoy the challenges they are set. The regional heats are exciting but the final certainly shows the competitive side of the entrants – they are all very focused on winning the title!”

“We were delighted to be able to help Celia and her team again, to ensure that the entrants in the finals had the best materials to work with during the competition,” said Stelrad’s Lorraine Hawes. “We’ve worked closely with Celia and her team before and are convinced that allowing these young entrants to the profession to work with high quality products will see them wanting to stick with them as they develop and work their way into their careers. We’ve been supportive of apprentices and opportunities to introduce ourselves to young professionals in this way for many years.”
