The prestigious HIP Learner of the Year and HIP Female Skills Competitions are gearing up for another incredible event in 2024 – supported by Stelrad as one of the key sponsors.
HIP Learner of the Year is celebrating its fifteenth year whilst the HIP Female Skills Competition is coming back for its second year after a successful launch in 2023. HIP is committed to providing competitions with the goal to build confidence and advocate skills development along with getting the very best people into the industry, regardless of gender.
Level 2 and 3 plumbing students will compete in six regional heats across England and Wales in January and February 2024. Competitors will be judged on various practical tasks by the competition Head Judge Jerry Whiteley, Technical Manager of the Chartered Institute of Plumbing & Heating Engineering (CIPHE). Each Regional Winner will then compete at the grand final. Along with the prestige for the student and his or her college for winning a national competition, there are fantastic prizes up for grabs as well.
The Meet the Manufacturer series will run alongside the HIP Learner of the Year offering manufacturers the opportunity to update the lecturers on the latest industry and product innovations. Stelrad was pleased to welcome a group of college lecturers last year to see around the factory and get an update on the plans the company had for the future.
“We’re delighted to be involved in these competitions again this year,” says Marketing Communications Manager for Stelrad, Sarah Baker. “As a company we recognise the importance of supporting young people looking to come into the industry and we welcome the chance to introduce Stelrad and its products to both the youngsters taking part and their lecturers at college to make sure the latest innovations are revealed to them on a regular basis.”
