Stelrad Radiators has responded to a request to help the Barnsley Youth Choir as it heads to Latvia to represent Great Britain in the Choir Games.
The Barnsley Youth Choir was established in February 2009 to serve the children and young people of Barnsley. Based at the Horizon Community College in Barnsley, the choir currently has over 250 members aged between 7 and 23 years old and is divided into three smaller choirs – The Children’s Choir, The Training Choir, and The Senior Choir.
The Choir has been invited to represent Great Britain in the prestigious European Choir Games in Riga, Latvia in July 2017. It performs a varied repertoire of music that includes Classical, Pop, Gospel and Folk music.
Gareth Rhodes from Stelrad’s Credit Control Department is one of the choir’s supporters and asked if Stelrad’s Social Forum could help fund the trip by sponsoring a child.
Barnsley Youth Choir is a registered charity and voluntary organisation that supports an amazing team of children who live in an area of rich and proud heritage but significant deprivation. It provides outstanding opportunities for children to access world class training, gives exceptional performances in this country and abroad, empowers young people and strengthens connections throughout the local community, irrespective of a child’s background or financial status. Barnsley Youth Choir has become a flagship ensemble that represents the town on a local, national and international stage.
