Northumberland Football Association is delighted to announce that this year’s Stelrad Minor Cup Final will be held at St. James’ Park on Thursday 23rd May 2019 – 7:30pm kick-off.
The 52,000 capacity Premier League stadium will host the final of the historic competition as part of Stelrad’s sponsorship deal with Newcastle United Football Club.
72 teams have competed in the Stelrad Minor Cup this season and after six rounds we will welcome Reeves Independent Northern Alliance 1st Division sides Cullercoats and Blyth Town to the centre stage.
Both teams play in the 12th tier of English football and the Association is greatly looking forward to the contest between the two grassroots clubs.
After securing the deal with NUFC and Stelrad, Andrew Cook of Northumberland FA said: “With a bit of luck and a lot of work behind the scenes we thankfully can confirm the Stelrad Minor Cup Final will be hosted at St. James’ Park.
“I must thank Bob Armstrong and the rest of the team at Stelrad Radiators as well as Nicole Atkin and Lee Charnley at Newcastle United for trusting us with the stadium for the second time this football season.
“This will be a unique opportunity for some players further down the footballing pyramid to take in the unique experience of playing at a Premier League ground. I hope they savour every minute.”
“All of us at Stelrad are delighted that we can be a part of the team that is supporting this final,” said Chris Harvey, Head of Marketing for the UK’s leading radiator manufacturer, that has its headquarters in Newcastle city centre. “For some, if not all of the players involved, this will be one of the major highlights of their lives – to grace the turf at St James Park with family and friends there to watch the game. We wish both teams all the best for the final and hope they all feel they made the most of their time playing in this wonderful stadium.”
Gate prices and further information on the final will be announced closer to the date.
