Stelrad Radiators has been shortlisted for two awards in the annual ASCP Awards – in the Customer Service Excellence Award category and in the Community Initiative of the Year category. The ASCP is the Association of Safety and Compliance Professionals and it is the leading professional membership organisation for asset safety management and compliance within social housing and facilities management.
The Awards take place at the 2021 ASCP Safety & Compliance Conference on the evening of 23rd September 2021 at Telford International Centre.
It’s entry for the Customer Service Excellence Award revolved around its recent award of the ServiceMark accreditation which Stelrad was awarded by the Institute of Customer Service. The process involved an independent assessment which took place over three days. The purpose of this was to verify that Stelrad was meeting the organisation’s benchmark requirements and was implementing the action plans it has committed to in order to develop the identified areas of improvement.
Over the three days of the assessment, the assessor spent time with several departments including Customer Services, the National Distribution Centre, Marketing, HR and Technical.
There has been a huge amount of work put in by everyone involved at Stelrad to achieve this accreditation and this, along with the success of Stelrad as a business, is evident in the statement provided by the independent assessor, Julija Suzejeva who stated:
“From the evidence seen, Stelrad has undertaken a lot of work to focus its attention and strategy on the customer. With a recognition that customer service can help it differentiate its business from its competitors, the emphasis shifted from the more technical to relationship building and working in partnerships with customers by introducing a fairly recent role of Brand Specialists. Using The Institute of Customer Service surveys and its membership to provide a framework for identifying areas to improve and measure its progress, some significant strides have been made, evidenced by the survey results, interviews and observations. At the same time there was no complacency but a strong and genuine desire to do more for its customers and continue to improve”.
It’s entry for the Community Initiative of the Year Award was based on its impressive support for its local community in the South Yorkshire area over many years.
Stelrad has always had a desire to support local charities, organisations and individuals. As the major employer in Mexborough, South Yorkshire, it has taken its responsibilities as a local employer very seriously and has a group of employees that meet regularly to consider requests for help and support.
Amongst its on-going involvements are regular support through a range of initiatives for local children’s hospice – Bluebell Wood, near Sheffield. The company runs regular events and supports the Hospice’s fundraising initiatives in many ways. Most recently it has organised a charity football match which raised a total of £1700 for the charity with a raffle run within Stelrad’s offices and manufacturing centre for prizes that included tickets to Yorkshire Cricket Club, Sheffield United and Sheffield Wednesday matches. They have supported the charity’s ‘Bag it up’ campaign for several years, with employees bagging up bric-a-brac and unwanted gifts to be sold in the charities Charity Shops in South Yorkshire. The company has an annual walk event in August that sees a number of employees undertaking a substantial sponsored walk – where they walked the Northumberland Coastal Walk – 34 miles from Beadnall to Berwick-upon-Tweed – raising more than £1300 which as a matter of course was doubled by the company making the total given to the hospice £2700.
“We’re pleased that we have been recognised through these two entries in these important awards,” says Head of Marketing at Stelrad, Chris Harvey. “We look forward to the presentation evening when we find out if we will be adding these two awards to our impressive awards cabinet at our office in Mexborough.”
