Most people will notice this has happened as they will see water on the floor. Remove the rubber cover from the valve, remove the gland nut with a spanner, use PTFE tape to repack under the nut and this would help. You can use about 1-2 inches of tape and then put everything back in place. Add more tape if it’s still leaking.
