What is Radiator BTU?

If you need a high-performance radiator which packs a punch when it comes to heat output, you need one of our High BTU Radiators. As the UK’s top radiator specialist, operating since 1936, our expert experience in heat engineering means we have the best quality, high output radiators. Plus, with the largest range of radiator sizes and styles, you are sure to find the right high BTU radiator for your project.

To understand if you need a high BTU radiator, your first need to understand BTU.

BTU stands for British Thermal Units. When referring to radiators, it is the amount of energy required to increase the temperature of a pound of water by 1 degree Fahrenheit.

Each radiator will have a BTU figure which states who many BTU it produces per hour – BTU/hr. The higher the BTU, the more heat output the radiator achieves.

You need to know the BTU of a radiator, but you also need to know the BTU requirements for your room. To evaluate this, use our BTU Heat Loss Calculator. Input the size of your room, the wall construction, the glazing type and area, and other key factors. The BTU calculator will assess your room and provide you with the BTU.

For large rooms and poorly insulated areas, you will need a High BTU Radiator to heat it satisfactorily.

Does colour affect the High BTU of a Radiator?

Open Close

Simply, no. There is a negligible difference in output between a white radiator and a black radiator. So, when you are choosing the best colour for your high output radiators, the decision should be led by which colour is best for your interior design.
