Type 11 Radiator FAQs
How do I calculate the heating requirements of a house or room?
When determining the size of a radiator or the type of radiator you will buy, it’s vital to calculate the type of radiator which is best. This can seem complicated, but our STARS (Stelrad Technical Advanced Radiator System) heat loss calculator offers a simpler way to get sizing of radiators right, first time round. Both fabric heat loss and ventilation heat loss are also calculated to establish the radiator output and size required.
Stelrad measure output in Btu/hr, British Thermal Unit per hour which is the standard measurement used to state the amount of output of any heat generating device=. Heat output can also be measured in Watts, 1 watt is equivalent to 3.412 Btu/hr.
What is your product warranty for Type 11 Radiators?
Most horizontal steel panel radiators come with a 10-year warranty; all other radiators have a 5-year warranty. The warranty covers any defect that is attributable to a manufacturing, assembly, or material fault. For further details, please get in touch.
What is included in the radiator packaging for installation?
At Stelrad, we have made radiator installation easy. Everything you need for a smooth installation can be found within the radiator’s packaging. Our radiator accessories, like brackets are of a strong design, with open top and deep slots, which facilitate easy and secure installation. Plastic inserts seat the radiator precisely on the bracket, minimising expansion, and contraction noise.
The neat, nickel-plated plug and vent provide a watertight joint, whilst complementing the superior finish. To facilitate easy one-off replacement, nickel-plated brass extension pieces are also available, complete with sealing washer, in 20mm, 30mm and 40mm options.
Which of your products can I fit feet on?
All steel panel type radiators, including Column and Concord have optional feet, however these must be specified when ordering.
Where Should You Position Your Radiator?
Traditionally, many home owners opt to place radiators underneath the windows. This would have been the ideal place in older homes, as it would help compensate cold air leaking through the window and this space tends to be somewhere that you can’t place furniture. Despite improvements to insulation in modern homes, many people will still choose to put their radiator below the window. This is a decision which often comes down to available space.
However, there’s now a huge range of different radiator types available which can help you utilise the available space you have. If you are short on horizontal space, choose a vertical radiator which will maximise all the available floor to wall space with a smaller footprint. We also stock a great range of slimline radiators which will produce great heat outputs in a smaller design.
Radiators are also available in double & single panel varieties. A double panel radiator will allow you to achieve a larger heat output from the same footprint.
