Black Radiators FAQs
Are Black Radiators as Efficient?
Contrary to popular belief, matt black radiators are, on average, 1% more efficient than white radiators. This is a negligible amount, so you won’t really notice much difference when you install your matt black radiator. The surface of your black radiator emits thermal radiation better than white ones, which is why black things seem to get warmer than white things. The main source of heat from your designer radiator is convective heat, which warms up the air and circulates it in currents around a room. No matter whether you have a tall black radiator, a horizontal black radiator, black flat panel radiator or any other of our black modern radiator models, they will perform to an optimal temperature, while looking just as good as they perform.
Can I Paint My Radiator Black Myself?
We strongly advise that you refrain from painting your radiators yourself. We at Stelrad use heat resistant, drip fee paint to ensure that your black wall radiator performs effectively. You may run into issues if you decide to paint your radiator yourself, so leave that to us! If our black radiators aren’t quite for you, we offer 36 different colour options for selected radiators. Check out our selection for yourself and see what suits your décor, including neutral tones such as chrome, white and grey.
Can Black Radiators Be Used For Any Room?
Yes, there is no reason why you can’t use black radiators throughout your home if you are a big fan of the colour. If your home décor incorporates a lot of light walls, you can create the perfect contrast with a black radiator. Whether you have a utility room requiring heat, a conservatory, hallway or laundry room, these are a great addition.
